Living Waters has
been in operation in the city of Lowell, Massachusetts since 1997.
The ministry was birthed through prayer after one year of prayer
walking we began serving in various ways at the Middlesex Shelter
as well as other area programs. We began by serving meals, ice-cream
socials, hair cuts, and make over nights, Super Bowl Halftime gatherings,
Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving outreach’s, Bible Studies,
ladies and men’s night, always offering love and acceptance.
As we continued to be faithful, God continued
to answer prayers and open doors. In March of 2003 we moved into
our present storefront at 254 Middlesex St. Lowell, Massachusetts,
which is located directly across the street from the cities homeless
shelter. Living Waters outreach/drop-in center offers an alternative
place for the people of the community to come and spend time in
an atmosphere of love and acceptance.
Living Waters is presently
opened one day a week, and three evenings each week. We hold various
meetings, groups and functions that help strengthen individuals
in both their spiritual and emotional growth. These events include
Bible Studies, 12 Step recovery program, Movie Night, Coffee house,
Prayer and fellowship, functions, trips, transportation to church,
laundry, food shopping, and appointments. We give out personal hygiene
packs, food packs, cloths, blankets and each time the door is open
we offer coffee, tea, baked goods, along with Christmas outreach,
Summer outreach to the shelter, outreach to the local camps to bring
supplies and encouragement. Most of all we offer the genuine unconditional
love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God has placed upon our hearts that in the future
Living Waters will be a place were the body of Christ will come
together and work for the purpose of reaching the lost of Jesus
Christ. We believe that the community of faith needs to arise and
put aside those things that divide us, this will move and touch
the hearts of those within our communities and many will come to
know our God. We believe in Jesus’ prayer in John 17 that
as we become on (in purpose) the world will come to see and know
Him. Will also be a place where the faith community can train with
hands on experience with outreach.
We believe God for obtaining a building to create
supportive housing. This would be an affordable housing, alcohol,
drug free, a safe, clean, loving environment that would allow residents
to develop recovery progress and become self-supporting.
We at Living Waters Ministry of Hope believe
that along with the body of Christ we can make a meaningful contribution
in eliminating homelsessness among people with addiction, mental
illness, and disabilities. We can help those that have lost their
purpose in life, those that are bound can be set free. We can help
by bringing the freedom that is only found through Christ.
This will not be a place, a program or even
a project it will be a Community Support System.
Compass House
Living Waters is developing supportive housing
above the storefront through the Compass House. It is an alcohol
and drug free, safe and clean environment that allows residents
to develop and become self-sufficient. We help people to connect
with the services that they will need. We also teach life skills
and provide case management.
